Lucy urgently needs a foster home

Why is fostering needed?

Two of my dogs got into a fight (their 3rd fight in the last year) and my wife was bitten in the scuffle. They are having some kind of territorial issue. They coexist fine inside the home, but in the backyard, they fight very violently. This is not a safe arrangement for them as we do have other pets and we feel that they would do better in other homes to give them the best quality of life.

How long is fostering needed for?

Until a forever home for pet is found

Other notes

Lucy is a gentle 60 pound giant. She loves to snuggle and be lazy, but she could also be a good running partner. She does have some pain in her hips as she gets older, but rest usually helps. She does well around cats and some other dogs in our home, but we are faced with re-homing her and another one of our dogs due to aggression and recent fighting between the two of them. Seems like it is a territorial issue after the other dog had a litter of puppies. She loves to bask in the sun outside during the day and snuggle in bed at night. She does well outside of the kennel, as long as there is not an open trash can that she will rip paper out of. When on a leash, she does pull but only because she is excited to be in nature. She had some trauma as a puppy before we owned her so she does get scared at getting her nails clipped or even seeing the clippers come out of the drawer, as well as being around cigarette smoke. She does need some encouragement to eat her meals, she may prefer to graze throughout the day if possible. She knows all of the typical commands, – sit, stay, lay, shake, and she will even balance a treat on her nose if you entice her with a second one. She is a special girl, she has a ferocious bark, but she is just trying to say hello. She may jump up onto new people to say hello, but she does not mean any harm. We are terribly heartbroken that we are faced with finding her a new forever home, she is a great companion and she will bring joy to any family that can have her.
