Why is fostering needed?

Hello- I am the Client Resource Coordinator for Comfort Keepers of Indianapolis. I’m trying to help one of our clients who is dealing with home-insecurity right now. As of two days ago, she and her family are living in their car while we help them locate available transitional housing. They would definitely like to keep their dog, but emergency shelters don’t allow for pets. Would you be able to help me connect them with temporary fostering options for their pit-mix dog? Thank you!

Hello! I am the Client Resource Coordinator at a local home health and personal services agency in Indianapolis. We are looking to assist a home-insecure client right now with finding temporary fostering for their pit-mix dog while we help them secure long-term housing.
I will be happy to provide more information once I know more from the owner, but she says that it is a sweet-tempered dog. They hope to have it certified as an emotional support animal, but without that designation in place, they won’t be able to have their dog with them in a shelter or transitional housing community in the meantime. Exact time needed may vary depending on how long they are without a permanent residence.
