Ume urgently needs a foster home

Why is fostering needed?

I have a beautiful 6-month-old Siamese kitten who recently developed symptoms of effusive/wet-form FIP, a fatal disease for which the cure is available in the USA currently only through research institutions. I need a foster in proximity of UC Davis who will take temporary ownership of my cat for 13 to 16 weeks so that she may be eligible to participate in the antiviral treatment clinical trial. I am willing to compensate the foster caretaker provided that they update me regularly on my cat’s condition. While I would strongly prefer to retrieve my cat immediately after she completes the clinical trial, if the foster caretaker wants to keep my cat after treatment, he/she will have the option to buy her but only if they will also buy her littermate sister who is very bonded to my ill kitten.

How long is fostering needed for?

A few months

Other notes

Ume is a beautiful Siamese kitten who tragically developed symptoms of wet/effusive FIP, a fatal condition for which curative treatment exists in the USA but is not yet available for veterinarians to prescribe. Ume is in urgent need of a compassionate and responsible foster caretaker residing close to UC Davis where antiviral treatment clinical trials are currently being conducted. The disease has reduced her playfulness but her kind and affectionate personality is still there and I am hopeful she will begin to bounce back within a week of starting treatment if she can find a foster to support her through the clinical trial. Without curative treatment, Ume will need to be euthanized and her littermate, Ren, will deeply mourn the loss with me. I appreciate your consideration to foster and save my beautiful kitten. Please let me know what your compensation needs are to take care of Ume. I will fly from New York to drop her off, visit her, and retrieve her.
