Steele urgently needs a foster home

Why is fostering needed?

I’m in desperate need of a safe temporary 2-4 week foster home for my sweet boy Steele cat. He’s 8 years old and very loving. He’s mostly laying on my lap or chest and very friendly to guests. He loves snuggling and is house trained. He was a rescue kitten from a hawk trying to eat him. He loves sleeping in cozy dark spaces like closets. I am traveling internationally for 2 weeks and don’t have anyone locally I can trust to care for him. The few friends I have already have dogs or multiple cats and we tried but it stressed him too much. I am currently unemployed and in between homes so there is nowhere for my baby to stay for them to check on him while I’m out of the country and I can’t bring him with me due to strict animal transport laws (USA to Africa and back). Our new apartment wont be available for move in until July 1st (potentially able to move in a few days earlier) when I will be able to resume care for Steele. To complicate matters more Steele has FLUTD (urinary disease) so he needs his ph monitored and eats a very specific diet which makes it harder for him to live with other animals due to stress. My finances are extremely tight due to his health condition and multiple vet bills in the thousands so I can’t afford boarding. My family is all the way in Texas and unable to care for him due to mental health. This is really tough for us and I’ve fostered before so I’m hoping to find a trusting foster home for him just for a few weeks. I have been able to care for him for 8 years taking on all the financial hardship of FLUTD and just need a little help with this transition. Thank you so much in advance for considering to care for this sweet boy.

A few weeks

Other notes

Steele loves being with people. He will greet me at the door with a leg rub and then join me on the couch. He’s a lap kitty. Sometimes he will sit just next to you on not on you. He usually sleeps on the bed with me. Very snuggly. His personality is affectionate and curious. He’s timid at first in new environments. He warms up to new people instantly though. He has a strict diet of canned low phosphorus food due to being prone to bladder stones. His ph has been in the safe zone and he is doing well managing FLUTD but it is something he needs help with. He’s survived. He takes supplements with his meals and uses a special kind of litter to ensure he is peeing daily. He cannot eat dry food/kibble or any food other than his current diet. Energy level is relaxed 85% of the time napping. He has about an hour of playtime in the morning and an hour in evening. He loves motorized mice toys or tennis balls. Boxes and paper bags and hide and seek.
