Sassy needs a foster home

How long is fostering needed for?

Until a forever home for pet is found

Other notes

Sassy was brought in by her owners and said they couldn’t keep her anymore.
25lbs. I have had her Kenneled with another dog, she has done good with the other dog in with her. I also have shown her a cat, she was a little unsure at first. Sassy can be a little bit stubborn when walking on a leash, if she decides she don’t wanna walk some where she will up and stop lol she has a mild energy level. Not hyper rambunctious. Also does good with kids. A few things I have found. She is a little food aggressive, and she is very possessive over people. Like if she is on the couch with me and one of my dogs try to come over and lay on/next to me she will growl at them. The food aggression happened this morning when she was in her cage with her food and doors to cage were locked and one of the cats walked by the cage and she snapped at them. She is on medication for lyme disease and is spayed. I don’t have her shot records in front of me.

Sassy has been in AZ since Dec 17. The lady who has her had this to say: Sassy needs to be in a home as an only dog or perhaps with one that has a larger dominant dog, and with no small children. 99% of the time she is the sweetest, most loving dog, smart, playful.
There were 3 fights initially—likely related to food/treats, I get it. A week went by and all seemed fine, seemed to settle in and we had a good routine going. Last night, I can’t identify a trigger, she lunged at my 13yo chihuahua, the fight was bad, I had trouble getting her off of him. Now my Chihuahua is scared to walk about his own home. I have them separated for his safety and due to his anxiety related to the event.
No cats and possibly no other dogs.
