Marshall/Flo urgently needs a foster home

Why is fostering needed?

It is very complicated situation. My two children and I are currently homeless and temporarily staying with family. A series of unfortunate events occurred including a very severe illness and an abusive ex-husband who put our home into a trust and had me and my two children evicted. He evicted his own children. I lost my job after not being able to return to full time work due to a systemic illness that started as a mass on my neck and eventually spread. I am back at work. My ex-husband is refusing to follow court orders and transfer me money that would enable me to get an apartment with my two children. I have started to work again. My friend was not a good fit for my dogs and my parents will not permit the dogs to be with us while we temporarily stay with them. The other options would be to move my two kids from the school district and get government assistance for housing. My one son has severe mental illness so much so that he was placed in a therapeutic for several years. It would make transferring his school at the moment potentially catastrophic. I am preparing to pursue my exhusband for what he owes me and am saving money for an apartment. We love our dogs.

How long is fostering needed for?

A few months

Other notes

Marshall is high energy. He has Addison’s disease but is doing well. He requires regular exercise. He should not be placed with a home with cats. He is good with other dogs who do not want to be the alpha. He is typically better with female dogs but can be with more submissive males. He should be kept in a secured fenced in yard. He is amazing with kids. He is very tolerant. He loves to be cuddled. He loves walks and runs. He does pull but a front hook harness helps with that. He does not like being closed in a crate but is okay being in an Xpen. He loves his “sister”, Flo, a border collie/Australian Shepherd Mix. Flo has been with Marshall since she was a puppy. She follows him and although not a pointer likes to try to copy her older brother. She can be possessive over food so humans should exercise caution in removing food items from her. Flo is submissive to Marshall even with food with the exception of some more desired bones. Flo likes to try to hide her bones and protect the area. She too loves to be outside for walks. She does need regular brushing and an occasional haircut. She loves to roll on her back for tummy rubs. She is great with kids but just like with adults, she doesn’t want them to take her food, touch her paws, or brush her. Both Flo and Marshall need regular exercise which I would be happy to help with it the foster is comfortable with me helping and needs the help.
