Lio urgently needs a foster home

Why is fostering needed?

My husband, who lives in the Chicago area with our dog Lio, has recently fallen ill and cannot care for him. I am a student in Urbana and cannot currently take Lio due to my housing situation and his dog aggression. I am graduating in May and plan to find housing by August, after which I can reclaim Lio. My husband’s return to health is unknown, so it would help us tremendously to have someone watch Lio until I have the appropriate space to take him again.

How long is fostering needed for?

A few months

Other notes

Lio is a sweet boy who loves everything food related, loves to play outside, and loves to lounge on the couch for hours. He was rescued 3 years ago from a very traumatic situation which has caused him to be very reactive towards other dogs and to have anxiety. He gets medications daily for his anxiety and is trained to go in the crate (but only for a few hours at a time). He would do best in a foster home that does not have any pets or children. He is true to his Dogo nature and can be very protective of his owners. However, he does well with unfamiliar people when we are not around. He gets most of his exercise running in our large fenced yard and would likely do best in a foster home that has that available. He is obsessed with snuggling on the bed or couch and will do anything for belly rubs.
