Gryphon urgently needs a foster home

Why is fostering needed?

I am leaving for Army bootcamp, I will have to Complete bootcamp and my schooling for my job. I have no family or friends that can help, I don’t want to lose my best friend.

How long is fostering needed for?

A few months

Other notes

Gryphon is a very special boy, he’s one of the sweetest dogs. He has a messed up tail, (he was stepped on by a horse before we got him when he was a pup) so he really hates it being touched which is why I say he’d be best with older calmer children. He is extremely protective so he may nip if he thinks someone is being hurt. He very much enjoys laying in bed with you but if he’s not being pet he enjoys his own space. If you could pet him 24/7 he’d probably let you. He is an anxious dog because he is a heeler. He is 100% potty trained but may have an accident if it’s an emergency or if he’s mad at you. He is also completely kennel trained and can sit in his kennel while you leave home or work etc. For being a heeler he is rather calm, he does enjoy playing but sleeps a ton. I would like to add he is 100% an inside dog but seems to act fine around cattle, he doesn’t really care about them the few times he was around them. He has a VERY high prey drive so it’s best he isn’t around small animals, he’s fine around smaller dogs. It really depends on the dog but he’s not the biggest fan of large male dogs, he just enjoyed his own space and is territorial over his kennel. (Slightest food aggression but he’s fine after he gets used to the other dog, not aggressive at all with people if someone touches his food) he was a model dog until our home caught on fire, it was very traumatic for us both but he took it a bit worse than I did. I’m looking for someone who TRULY knows how to deal with a Blue Heeler, I need someone who is ready for the commitment. With me being in the military I can’t just drop everything and save him. He is a washed service dog so he does know a few tasks and does have basic manners, VERY good at walking on a leash and also very good with being in public, he does however get nervous poops now adays so he’ll always poop outside right before we go into petco. He loves female dogs but if you have a male dog it honestly just depends on how the first interaction goes. 🙂
