Captain Chewie needs a foster home

How long is fostering needed for?

Until a new home is found

Other notes

Captain Chewie is a medical foster currently being house at the Adoption Center. He is a 4 year old large mixed breed male weighing 60 pounds.

Captain Chewie was picked up by animal control after being found in a ditch. His eye was injured and popping out of his socket. He was thin and had no hair. Western Carolina Regional Animal Hospital agreed to take him in and give him surgery on his eye and help treat his skin. They called us asking if we could take him in.

He gets 3 medicated baths a week but he tolerates them very well. He gets a number of medications including eye ointment daily.

He still has little fur and his skin is inflamed but it is improved from where it started. It is not contagious.

He lets you know when he needs to go outside with a bark and keeps his kennel clean. I am working on his leash walking and his is mostly really awesome except when he gets excited. He loves fetching and will drop the ball for you. He is very people oriented and just wants to be near you. He seems either friendly with the other dogs or ignores them for people. He probably cannot play with another dog at this time due to his skin but maybe ok for a coexisting situation.

I know this is a big ask but I am very worried he will deteriorate here and would love to get him out even if just for a few days here and there.
Please let me know if you can help!
