Bo urgently needs a foster home

Why is fostering Needed?

Having an operation with an expected 2mo recovery, I don’t qualify for time off with my job and conveniently it is aligning with the end of my lease term that I can’t renew due to financial issues. I cannot bring my German Shepherd into vehicle life while I’m in recovery, there’s not a lot of room and it will be over summer. I’ve posted on craigslist about rehoming him and asked some local networks and shelters but I haven’t had any luck and I’ll be moving into my vehicle on the 29th.

Other Notes

Bo has a sensitive stomach and weak back legs, but it doesn’t slow him down. He is very outgoing, playful, witty, and a little clumsy. I’ve had him since he was a puppy and we’ve both made compromises in traditional had training to make it work; he’s very independent and easily distracted. He is crate trained, knows basic commands, phrases like “do you want food, water, walk, toy, lie down” and is excellent at letting me know if he needs something. He is not trained for work, but is an excellent, active emotional support dog. He does need frequent “outings” and daily exercise to get his anxious energy out; loves jogging, chase, camping, hiking, and going to the dog park. I try to tire him out in the morning, so he doesn’t get himself into trouble while I’m at work. He has lived with cats, dogs, and rats before, but as a high-drive breed he needs a relatively quiet home without small animals or small children. He hasn’t had any destructive habits in a while, but will try to get in the trash and learn how to open doors if he knows you’re not looking. Bo needs a lot of attention but he has been a wonderful companion over the years and loves to meet new people and go on adventures.
