Ace urgently needs a foster home

Why is fostering needed?

Ace’s residence has been evicted without our knowledge and now the big guy needs temporary housing for a short period before we can take him in permanently. We’re able and willing to fund all his food and supply needs, etc.

How long is fostering needed for?

A few months

Other notes

Ace is a relatively low maintenance dog who is as goofy as he is large (and handsome). He has moderate energy, so a good walk or playtime is enough to put him into couch potato mode. Strangely, he isn’t a fan of being outside sometimes, especially if he’s alone. We feel he’s a guy who really appreciates the ambiance of being around others without being smothering with his own presence. Ace is crate trained, decent on leash, and knows some basic obedience though it needs refinement. Luckily, the hunk is incredibly food motivated, so if coercion is needed, a snack is the answer, but he is usually very cooperative if you’re firm with him. He is friendly with other dogs, and all other dogs he has met and lived with have been smaller than him. Supervision is needed around very small dogs and cats, however. He’s never been violent towards them, but will chase small animals (including squirrels, though he only licks any he finds), and doesn’t seem to understand that he’s a large guy, too big to properly play with them. Also, Ace adores kids-the neighborhood boys enjoyed visiting to play with him at his previous residence-and exudes enthusiastic, gentle giant vibes. If there’s any flaws to Ace, it’s that he can be a bit low on confidence and can show anxiousness at times, but he’s resilient, and with dash of patience he can acclimate to many things. He’s also a fence hopper if left alone, he’s usually trying to get back indoors or to people. We recommend tall fences or tethering, which he’s acclimated to. Oh, and baths. . .he’ll tolerate an outdoor bath with warm water, but otherwise the stinky dude is sure he’ll dissolve in a tub. He has some mild dermatitis/dry skin as well, so conditioner, or a ph balanced soap works best to reduce it if he’s washed.
